The five most beautiful, funny, and bizarre events that kept taxi drivers busy at Christmas
During the Christmas holidays, most Viennese people are with their loved ones, spending well-deserved time off. For the drivers of Taxi 40100, however, these days are quite ordinary working days – although many of the experiences our drivers have on the streets of Vienna are probably anything but ordinary. Taxi 40100 has summarized a “best of” the most beautiful, funny, and bizarre events:
- Ilona says: “One customer was invited to three different gift-giving celebrations on Christmas Eve, and I was her driver. In any case, she had neatly organized the gifts into a bag. However, the bag opened in the trunk and the gifts were scattered everywhere. Pure chaos, because the lady had forgotten to label the packages and no longer knew which gifts belonged to which celebration… So she unwrapped everything and checked who each item belonged to. I wrapped everything back up and Christmas was saved!”
- Yusuf also had an experience with a gift: “A passenger gave me a gift instead of a tip for Christmas: a hoodie in size L. It was a bit too big, but I was very happy about the kind surprise.”
- Same day, same driver, Yusuf: “I had the same passenger three times—in one day! By the third time, we both had to laugh. That must have been Christmas magnetism!”
- Another driver had a good chuckle on December 24: “Three girls got in and laughingly told me that they had been at the wrong Christmas party all evening and only realized it at the end. All evening they had been wondering why they didn’t know anyone there…”
- Ismail witnessed a failed Christmas meeting: “A passenger wanted to go to the airport because he wanted to meet and pick up a friend there. We were already there, but the friend, who arrived in another taxi, couldn’t find us. I described the way to the driver of the other car but soon lost my patience and said angrily, ‘What kind of Viennese taxi license do you even have?'” The other driver’s answer was: “None at all, I am a Zurich taxi driver.” It turned out that the other passenger was waiting at Zurich Airport, while my passenger was at Vienna Airport. So, the evening together didn’t happen after all…”
