The dispatch center is the first in Austria to offer taxi bookings via a messenger service, effective immediately, in partnership with “Taxibooker”
“We pick up our customers right where they are—literally,” says Eveline Hruza, Secretary General of Taxi 40100. She adds, “If people use WhatsApp every day, why not use it to order a taxi?” The numbers speak for themselves: According to the City of Vienna’s 2023 Media Discourse Study, 64 percent of Viennese residents use WhatsApp regularly—that is, several times a week.
“We are thrilled to now be able to offer our sophisticated booking system in Vienna as well,” says Arnoud de Niet, founder of Taxibooker. Here’s how it works:
Customers need to save the phone number 0140100 in their phone’s contacts. Then open the WhatsApp messaging app and search for Taxi 40100. Enter the exact pickup address and confirm. You’ll receive the estimated wait time, order number, and a tracking link for the car, and shortly thereafter, you can relax and head out.
“Currently, when booking via WhatsApp, it’s possible to arrange rides at the meter rate and airport transfers. Soon, we’ll also be able to arrange fixed-price rides via WhatsApp,” Hruza says happily.
By the way: Ordering via WhatsApp is just the beginning. Taxi 40100 and Taxibooker are already working on their next big feature: Later this year, Taxi 40100 will also allow customers to order taxis via Instagram and Facebook Messenger. With this move, Taxi 40100 aims to specifically target young Viennese people.
