Experts from over 20 countries discussed innovative solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an era of rapid technological change, the mobility sector is facing a fundamental transformation. Autonomous vehicles will pose enormous challenges to the domestic taxi market. For this reason, at this year’s “Meet the cab” \u2013 an industry event organized by Taxi 40100 \u2013 the topic of “autonomous driving” was the focus of attention. International experts, industry representatives, and political decision-makers from Austria discussed at the Parkhotel Sch\u00f6nbrunn and provided insights into the future of transport. <\/p>\n

“We welcome all efforts to promote dialogue between technology, business, and society and to advance innovative concepts in Austria,” said guest of honor Alexander Pr\u00f6ll (\u00d6VP), State Secretary for Digitalization, in his introductory keynote. He added: “Autonomous driving is more than just technical progress. It’s about safety, innovation, digital sovereignty \u2013 and very specifically about a better quality of life for people in Austria. That is precisely why my goal is to bring autonomous driving to Austria and establish it responsibly here.” <\/p>\n

The program included presentations by international experts from 20 countries and a panel discussion (moderated by Gregor Beiner, President of the German Federal Association of Taxis and Rental Cars) on legal, ethical, and technical issues. Participants in the congress included Rainer Becker (Moia), Markus Zwick (INYO), Hannes Watzinger (Digitrans), Hugo Fozzati (Tensor), Michael Oppermann (Managing Director of the German Federal Association of Taxis and Rental Cars), author and technology researcher Mario Herger, and Jiazeng Wang (Pony.ai) from the USA. <\/p>\n

Marcus Zwick, CEO of INYO (Germany), states: “In San Francisco, children are taken to school by a robotaxi. Technological progress is inevitable. Now we must work to enable the participation of local taxi providers.” <\/p>\n

Rainer Becker, Director Business Development at Moia (Germany), is currently testing autonomous cars in Oslo (Norway): “It is important that autonomous driving systems are fully functional even in snow and ice and are no longer dependent on road markings.”<\/p>\n

Mario Herger, technology trend researcher in Silicon Valley (USA) and author: “On my first ride in an autonomous vehicle, I wondered if I would survive the journey. But autonomous cars are demonstrably much safer than human drivers.” <\/p>\n

Hugo Fozzati from Tensor adds: “As they say, the future is already here; it’s just not evenly distributed yet. With autonomous vehicles, we are experiencing this in real-time. Full autonomy is too transformative for retrofitted solutions; attempting to adapt conventional vehicles compromises performance and safety. Tensor vehicles can see 360 degrees, even below the chassis, thanks to deeply integrated, vehicle-specific systems that consumers expect and safety demands.” <\/p>\n

And: “At Tensor, we are setting a new standard for multi-sensory safety. Our robocars are purpose-built platforms from the ground up, integrating over 100 sensors \u2013 including proprietary LiDAR, cameras, and radar \u2013 with 8,000 TOPS of computing power, more than ever before in a car in history. By prioritizing unparalleled redundancy and core architecture, we not only meet the highest safety standards; we define them.” <\/p>\n

Hannes Watzinger, Head of Division at Digitrans (Austria): “The technology is there. However, we still need to work on public trust in autonomous vehicles and social inclusion.” <\/p>\n

The Taxi 40100 dispatch center itself advocates for a gradual and socially acceptable transition, as well as a cautious introduction of robotaxis.<\/p>\n
